Using quality materials, this project required a high level of design detailing in order to ensure it was constructed and completed to the exacting standards of the sophisticated jet-set owners.
The project brief required extensive approvals and consultation with the Condominium Board, Property Management, and the unit owners; all while balancing the critical requirements for Building Code Compliance and knowledge of green roof construction relating to the structural building envelope. Roof drainage requirements and waterproofing integrity where adhered to because of MEP Design Inc’s extensive experience with new high-rise condominium development projects and green roof systems.
Located five stories above street level, the design had to be resolved to accommodate the logistics of constructing such a landscape with limited means of access. Components where individually detailed as manageable units that were craned into place and fitted together seamlessly to create a space of permanence and to become a direct extension of the interior space. Elements of the interior millwork were designed into the new raised planters and locally quarried natural stone paving was used throughout. An understated lighting design was achieved to accent the precise millwork details, respect the neighbouring units above by avoiding light trespass, and to frame the vista of the stunning illuminated urban waterfront on any given night.
